RTsafe and Blue Physics announce collaboration to enhance real-time radiation dose measurements

RTsafe’s Prime is a precision, patient-like QA phantom designed for End-to-End evaluation of advanced radiotherapy applications, focusing on stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). It utilizes advanced 3D printing technology to create an anatomically accurate replica of a patient’s head that provides realistic bone and soft tissue contrast in both MR and CT imaging. Prime accommodates any kind of point, 2D or 3D dosimeters according to the end user’s needs. By integrating Blue Physics’s groundbreaking dosimetry insert into Prime, radiation oncologists will have access to instant and precise dose measurements throughout the treatment process in an authentic clinical environment.

Blue Physics has developed cutting-edge technology that incorporates multiple plastic scintillator detectors, renowned for their exceptional accuracy and reliability. These water equivalent detectors have an active volume of only 0.78 mm³, making them perfectly suited for small field dosimetry without the need for correction factors. This capability has been validated by experts from IAEA AAPM TRS-483. In collaboration with Mercurius Health, Blue Physics has leveraged this technology to develop a custom 7-detector insert designed for use with the RT-Safe Prime phantom. This insert is fully compatible with Zap-X and other SRS treatment machines, representing a significant advancement. With its unique arrangement of Blue Physics detectors, this innovative insert enables swift patient quality assurance for radiosurgery treatments.
