RTsafe opens polymer gel dosimetry lab in San Antonio, Texas

RTsafe has announced the opening of its first production facility in the USA. In October 2015 RTsafe will be opening a polymer gel dosimetry lab in San Antonio, Texas.

Under RTsafe’s patient-specific QA methodology each patient dosimetric phantom is filled with a unique polymer gel material – a dosimetric material that mimics the way that human soft tissue interacts with ionizing radiation. The gel fills the cranium in the 3D-printed phantom. The resulting combination of 3D phantom and gel dosimeter provides a high-precision quality assurance tool that accurately maps dose delivery, even in cases where multiple targets are treated. For the first time RTsafe will have a polymer gel production facility in the USA which will improve overall production times for treatment-ready dosimetric phantoms.
